Finding a job

Is JOBUS.org free?

Yes. Searching, saving jobs, job alerts, resume tools, interview practice and applying are free. Employers also post jobs for free. HUB LLC funds and operates JOBUS.

Do I need an account to see jobs?

No. Job descriptions are public. A free account with a verified email lets you save jobs, get alerts, build a resume and apply on JOBUS.

Why do I need to verify my email?

It protects your account and keeps fake accounts and scams out.

Can I get emails about new jobs?

Yes, if you ask for them. Save a search and choose daily or weekly. You get at most one email a day (or a week) with all your alerts together — up to 20 new jobs, never the same job twice, and no email when nothing new matches. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe.

How do I add my resume?

Under My account → Resumes upload a PDF or Word file (up to 5 MB), or use the Resume builder to create one from your profile, step by step, or from a blank page. You can keep several versions and download them as PDF or Word.

Can AI write my resume?

AI can help, only if you turn it on under Privacy & sharing: it can read an uploaded resume into sections, suggest clearer wording and tailor a resume to a job. You choose each change, and it never adds jobs, schools, degrees, dates or numbers you did not give. Check the result — you are responsible for what you send.

How do I apply?

Jobs posted on JOBUS have an Apply on JOBUS button: your application goes straight to the employer, and you can follow it under Applications. Jobs from other sources link to the employer’s own website.

Why is a job missing or no longer available?

Jobs close, expire or are removed by the employer or by the source. We check imported jobs regularly and take closed jobs down.

Can I practice for an interview?

Yes. Interview practice in your account gives you likely questions for a job, tips, and feedback on your practice answers. Your answers are not saved and never shared.

For employers

Can companies post jobs for free?

Yes. Create an employer account, verify your email and register your company. After our team checks your company, you can publish jobs and receive applications — always free.

How can I tell if an employer is verified?

Companies our team checked show a Verified employer badge. It means we confirmed the business and the person who registered it — see how we verify employers. It is not a guarantee of a job. Companies that only appear through job feeds are not marked verified.

Privacy and AI

Who sees my resume?

Nobody, by default. An employer sees your resume when you apply to their job or when you share it with them. You can also choose to be discoverable: verified employers then see an anonymous card (no name or contact) and must ask before seeing more.

Will AI make hiring decisions?

No. JOBUS never uses AI to rank, filter or reject people for employers. AI helpers are optional tools for you, and their results are shown only to you until you choose to use them.

Can I delete my account and resume?

Yes. Under My account → My data you can download everything we hold about you and delete your account. Deletion becomes permanent after 30 days, in case you change your mind. Copies an employer already received when you applied cannot be recalled.

Safety

How do I report a suspicious job?

Use Report this job on any job or company page. Our safety team reviews reports within one business day, and the employer does not see who reported. You can also report scams to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

Will an employer ask me to pay or share bank details?

Real employers never ask you to pay, buy equipment, or share bank or Social Security details before a written job offer. If someone does, stop and report it.

About JOBUS

Is JOBUS a government service?

No. JOBUS.org is independently operated by HUB LLC. We link to official resources such as the California EDD and America’s Job Center of California for convenience, but we are not affiliated with them.

Where can I find free retraining support in California?

See the Career Center → Training pages, the California EDD jobs and training page, America’s Job Center of California, CareerOneStop and Apprenticeship.gov. Programs and eligibility can change; check with the provider.

Will JOBUS expand beyond California?

Yes, state by state, after we check job sources and service quality in each new state.
