Trust & Safety at JOBUS.org
This page explains how we protect your account and information, how listings are identified, and how to stay safe while looking for work.
Accounts
- During the public beta, every new account confirms its email address and is then reviewed by a person on our team before it becomes active.
- Your profile and resumes are private unless you choose to share them. Employers see your information only when you apply or give them access.
- Staff accounts must use two-step verification.
Employers and business profiles
- Employers that post jobs directly on JOBUS.org go through a manual company review before their jobs are published.
- The Verified Business badge appears only on companies that passed that review. It doesn't guarantee every job or the quality of employment.
- Company pages built from imported listings are marked as not verified until the business claims and verifies its profile.
Imported job listings
Many jobs come from public job feeds and partner sources. Each imported listing names its source and links to the original posting, and Apply takes you to that website. We check feeds automatically for duplicates, expired jobs, and known scam patterns, but we don't manually review every imported listing. See Where our jobs come from.
How to spot a job scam
Real employers never ask you to pay to get a job. Be careful if someone:
- asks for money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or a "training fee";
- sends you a check and asks you to send part of the money back;
- wants your Social Security number or bank details before a formal job offer;
- only talks to you through Telegram, WhatsApp, or text messages;
- offers very high pay for very little work, or hires you without an interview;
- asks you to reship packages or "process payments."
Applying safely
- Messages go through JOBUS.org, and your contact details stay hidden until you decide to share them.
- Links in messages show a warning before you leave the site.
- Apply on the employer's own website when you can, and never send documents to a personal email address you can't verify.
Report a problem
Stop, don't send money or documents, and use Report this job on the job page or Report in your messages. Reports go to our moderation queue. For account or safety questions, email [email protected]. You can also report scams to the Federal Trade Commission at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
